I was originally commisioned to create a sound installation for the Art Canada Institute in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, Canada. This was in the summer of 2016. For many reasons the project got out of hand and was never completed. This is something that I continually regretted throughout the following year.

After much planning and several false starts I finally realised my idea of filling a forest with micrphones in Estérel. A small village not far from my intended original location. Several hours of recordings were taken back to my studio. Here I focused on any sound that seemd to be atypical of a forest soundscape. All of these recordings from a colelction of contact microphones and highly directional microphones were then processed and produced back in my studio. The following month myself and a group of friends headed back to Estérel and put wireless audio speakers in the locations where i had originally placed the microphones. We then spent the night camping in our sonic forest and listening to the compositions I now present for release on Sonospace.

My connection with the forest is very strong. I love the sounds of the animals and the trees but here I chose to focus on something else. The feeling I get when I am alone in the forest. These compositions are my way of putting this feeling into the world.
