Piet Schen - surroundings (2021/22)

Blanket (04:52):
A rural soundscape in which nearer and farther away sounds of construction and agricultural machinery, traffic and the spatial sound of old architecture are carried by the wind and result in a drone that covers the landscape like a blanket.

Waste products (03:55):
Sounds from the ultrasonic range, which were actually created as waste products during bat monitoring. Everything around us, especially ourselves, creates an interesting, detailed and
unnoticed soundscape.

Sigh Motif (04:57):
A collage of tape artifacts, analog TV signals and locator calls from pipistrelle and serotine bats that reminded me of the musical sigh motif.

A Morning in the Ultrasonic Area (04:09):
transposed ultrasonic parts of a dawn chorus with nightingale, blackbird and starling in the
lead roles.
